mulling it over

about a month ago, i had an opportunity to experience what the good nuns of st augustine used to call an Occasion of Grace. last summer, a friend - someone i consider a dear friend - hurt me very much in a lightning stroke of a letter that left me feeling blindsided and bewildered.

when i heard from this friend last month, out of the blue, asking my forgiveness, offering an apology, i knew i had a choice. i could vent my anger at being mistreated, or, i could forgive her and welcome her back into my life.

i chose to do the latter. i accepted her apology with as much kindness as i could muster. i was proud of myself... i knew i had done the right thing.

i wish i'd known it was just a test for another, similar but far more insidious situation that's been building under my nose.

and furthermore, the war will end. blessed be.

You are a truly great person. I probably wouldn't have accepted her apology and I would have let her have it, to boot. But then again, I don't know all the circumstances behind it.

Oh Annie!!! Somehow as soon as I read this......I can't explain how.....I felt what you meant.
I have learned over the years the hard way................
Care for those who care for you and let the other's be. Does that make sense.
I don't want anyone to hurt you. You are just too sweet. I have let so many people back into my life so many times that have surt me deeply like that. Can you guess the outcome?
You are a beautiful person my friend. B~E~A~U~T~I~F~U~L. Remember that and remind yourself of it often please :)

not always easy
but forgiveness heals

it heals the person forgiving the most

drops the anger and resentment so you can live happier

It is always hard to forgive when you've been wronged. I have even taken the high road and have reached out to the person to see if it was possible to save a friiendship. You just have to let some people be. And there is always a lesson to be learned from that relationship. You just have to figure out what you got out of the friendship and move on.

Being angry hurts the person who is angry the most. To forgive will help you to heal and move on. Your friendship may or may not last but you will go on in a better space.
