whatsoever you do

today i went to the hartford county animal shelter. it's a grim sort of place, but at least the animals are dry and sheltered and fed and watered. for ten days, and then they're euthanized, unless, of course, someone takes them home.

most of the dogs are traumatized to say the least, a lot are agressive, all of them confused. i brought rawhide chews and a pile of old blankets and i did a lot of reiki. it wasn't much, but it was something.

i came home to find that Beloved received a new estimate... for nearly two/thirds less than the original we received a couple days and left us reeling. it might not feel like much, stacked against the weight of everything else, but it's something.

i find that when you really want to make lemonade out of life's lemons, you have to add a little sugar of your own.

and furthermore, the war will end. blessed be.

annie, i love it that you go to the shelter to help and heal the animals!!! i was at one at the end of june, when my mom got her puppy. it was the first time i had ever been to one. i walked around to all the cages, and my heart broke. there was so much pain. when i was done i felt very sick. all those sad and angry, and yes, confused dogs. it reminded me of my wish that the world was a different place.

How wonderful that you go to the shelter and help out. I would go to a shelter and want to bring them all home. All of my babies were given to us. Some were from abusive homes, but we've given them the love they deserve and they have healed. If I ever win the lottery, it's a farm I'll be buying, so I can take in more animals. And yeah for Beloved for getting another, lower estimate for your clean up.
