putting together the giveaway basket of Thirteen Essential Things to get through a long cold winter. i've realized i'm either a highly indulgent person or someone who feels the cold terribly because i've discovered i have quite a few MORE essential things than THIRTEEN!!! (who knew?!)
to give you a few examples, i need fluffy socks, soft throws, fingerless gloves and lots of scarves. i like my thinskins camisoles and fuzzy overalls. and those are just things i wrap around my body.
so share with me, if you will, gentle reader, what're some things you can't live through the winter without?
ps... remember... all comments count as entries!!! :)

I just had to stop by and say IT'S TIME!!!! Obama Baby!!!! Obama!!!! =)
And of course, my happy rant counts for an entry. How cool are you????
being a knitter i can totally relate to what you have here. So I cannot live without having a fluffy knitting project to work when its cold. I also love my tea and red wine, not together of course!! and of course a good book. plus i need candles and the light they provide. funny though its 70 degrees in denver today.
What can't I do without - my woodstove (its always going) and throws (I have 8 in my living room alone). Geez you'd think I live in the cold backwoods ...... well with the temperatures in the single digits and windchill below (and this is Jersey) I'm thinking I'm living in the backwoods.
I need hot chocolate. and Baileys!
Before the winter musts.. I have to tell you Anne that you are NOT off the hook in the awards department.. I did that post yesterday but it didn't cover all the awards I have to give out. So beware..bwaaahhh. And I'll be here with a martini glass for that big 6-0-0 post!
I must have lotion! I get very dry skin in the winter.. I've only just discovered this in the last five years as I've never really lived anywhere where there was a winter to speak of. So I use a good goatsmilk soap and lots of lotion. I try em all, don't have a fav yet.
HAPPY OBAMA DAY!!
Okay... for chilliness... great cocoa, chai, a good hot soup. (Clearly I'm in the food mode.) A fireplace! Can you put that in the basket? A good book.
Yes, candles. Delish chocolate chip cookies?
A hot lover!
That's the best. Heh.
A cup of hot tea! I love hot tea when its cold outside. I made that the very first thing for my winter giveaway and went from there. Can't wait to see what you come up with!
Hot Chocolate.
'nuf said.
Tee Hee.
Yummy lip balm....like Burt's bees or Dionis Milk & Honey.
Gotta have it here in Indiana! Brrr!
I loved your bumper sticker idea, "I Survived the Bush Years". I can't live without my down comforter and hooded sweatshirts to help me brave the cold weather of SoCal.
I cannot believe that you have done almost 599 posts! I am so proud of only 100 posts.
Thanks for the company...
slippers and hot tea for me
soft blankets, warm slippers, scarfs knitt by my mommy, pots of home made soup and tea to sip, a good read, a needlepoint project, a good moisturizer, and a really good reason if you want me to leave the house
I need some shoe cleats the weather was -20 for 17 days then warmed up to above 40 degeees and rained then the temp went to 20 degrees and it all froze leaving the roads and walkways sliperyer than snot on glass.
Hows the weather where you are?
I need coffee, lip balm (like Burt's bees), lotion. And I'm in SC where 40 is COLD. Of course, now it's 23.
Essential for winter: A hug - a warm bed and mulled wine.
Well, we can all dream can't we?
HOT CHOCOLATE! And Dunkin Donuts. Or Krispy Kremes. A good blanket, a good book and a warm dog to snuggle with. Some hot chili and a good man. How's that?
what a cool idea for a giveaway. I might steal it!
Bourbon.
ok i have commented on laura's and on devonshire. I am putting a post up of give aways. (yours will be there) I of course follow you. I always try to comment to you as your one of my all time favs. And what else???? I told the others I followed from your site too. How many is that in enteries now?????? Oh have to have warm socks always!
My hands are always cold, so gloves or even fingerless gloves are always perfect for me! I love the items you have in your giveaway... I make my own candles, but one can never have too many candles!
hmmm... I love scarves, hot tea, hot chocolate, and those muffler thingees... what are those called? I always see the rich, cute girls wearing them in movies instead of mittens. Hmmm.. I think I'm going to visit ebay now. :)
By the way, I'm a new follower!
ChapStick and a yummy lotion! The dry winter air does a number on my skin and lips!!
